Painting the town red!

BY GABRIELE – It’s the middle of January and it’s 16 degrees outside. That just sounds wrong, doesn’t it? There’s no sign of a single snowflake or any other weather you might associate with a winter wonderland. We’re already at the stage of thinking: “Yay, spring is on its way! I hope… 🙂 !” If you ask me, it can never be too early to start thinking about your new spring outfits. After all, dreaming of the sun shining down as you tuck into your first ice-cream and looking forward to those springtime vibes are great ways to boost your positive energy 🙂 And red is just the colour you need to chase those winter blues away…

Whether you are reading blogs or magazines or checking out the catwalks, the verdict is the same. After the colour of the year (ultra violet), red is the hottest hue around this season. If you don’t want to go all out with the brightest of reds, we can’t recommend this red and white patterned sleeveless top from Escada highly enough. And if you’re worried about your arms getting chilly if there’s a strong breeze, you can always pop a loose white shirt or oversized blouse underneath to create a casual look. Layering up is never a bad move…

Sleeveless tops in this style can sometimes be quite simple and even make you look a bit strict and stuffy. But, as is so often the case, it’s all about what you wear them with. How about these grey skinny jeans from 7 For All Mankind, for example? Pair these up with the top to avoid any chance of looking nerdy 😉 Instead, we’re going for a laid-back sexy student style that oozes nothing but cool.

For an added burst of trendy red, I’m bringing this Coach bracelet to the table. The subtle gold detailing classes up an otherwise casual look with a bit of bling, which is always needed in my book…

In fact, I would go so far as to say that you can never have enough! In my drawer at home, I have a collection of sunglasses in all shapes and sizes. But this pair from Guess is different to my usual top choice of black oversized sunnies. In this case, my eyes are framed by a delicate gold style that I love enough to leave my trusty look behind.

White sneakers are out of fashion again, you say? No way! That could simply never be the case! Anyway, this offering from Puma is nothing like the three other pairs of white sneakers I am fortunate enough to already call my own… 😉 The satin shoelaces jazz them up a little and give them a touch of elegance that you don’t usually get with a sportier style. They make for the perfect finishing touch to the ensemble.

Overall, this is a cool outfit that is ideal for welcoming spring with open arms, without going OTT or being completely underdressed. Basically, it’s time you started getting ready for the prettiest season of the year!
